Officials announced on Friday that a Massachusetts man and a teenager were murdered in a home in western Maine, and the deaths were determined to be homicides.
Following the discovery of the bodies earlier this week in the town of Poland, Maine State Police stated that there is no known danger to the general public.
At first, police considered the fatalities suspicious. Shoeb Mohamed Adan, 21, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Mohamed Aden, 16, of Lewiston were the casualties, according to state police.
While conducting interviews and pursuing leads in the investigation into their deaths, detectives have not yet made an arrest, according to a state police spokesperson.
The corpses were found during a welfare check by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department. The victims were recognized by the Chief Medical Examiner’s office.
