The victim’s identity has not been revealed. All that is known is that she is a 66-year-old woman.

Around 4:45 p.m, the fire marshals responded to a house fire on 20 Bridge st, Millers Falls. They were quickly aided by other fire departments due to the news that there were people still inside.

By the time first responders arrived, most had escaped, except one.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of the blaze. The only information they revealed was that the building suffered “catastrophic” amounts of damage, referring to the structural collapse that occurred.

The Turners Falls Fire Department expressed “[their] deepest condolences”, to the victim’s family.
