Two suspects in the kidnapping of a man who ultimately died are scheduled to appear in court in Lowell on Monday.

As the investigation develops, the two may be charged with further crimes.

The 38-year-old roommates Michael Burke and Samantha Perry are accused of kidnapping after it was claimed that they restrained and held a 37-year-old man against his will inside their Colburn Street house.

A well-being check was conducted at the Lowell residence on Friday to kick off the inquiry. Using a search warrant, police entered the house and discovered the 37-year-old victim’s body.

Investigators found evidence that the victim had been restrained at some point inside Burke and Perry’s house. According to officials, the death is being looked into as suspicious due to the location and state of the body.

The DA’s office has not yet released the identity of the deceased man.

Burke and Perry are anticipated to be charged before Lowell District Court on Monday. Whether or not they had attorneys was not evident.

The man’s cause of death will be determined through an autopsy.
