A suspect is wanted in connection with the weekend slaying of a 25-year-old woman in Lewiston, and Maine State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding him.

Soon after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Lewiston police were called in regarding a dead woman in a hallway of an apartment complex on Pierce Street. After discovering the woman’s body, responding officers alerted the state police Major Crimes Unit.

The woman’s body was brought to the chief medical examiner’s office in Augusta on Monday, where an autopsy was performed and homicide was determined to be the cause of death. Police have yet to say the cause of death.

Lacresha Howard, a Lewiston resident who is 25 years old, has been named as the victim.

All day Monday, state police processed the scene and interviewed witnesses in Lewiston. On Tuesday, detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant charging Lewiston resident Eddie Massie, 40, with murder. They claimed that because he is “armed and dangerous,” members of the public should avoid approaching him.

He is reported as being 170 pounds, roughly 6’4″ tall, and limping when he walks. Police reported that he goes by the street names Fast Eddie and TT.

The Lewiston Police Department has established a special tip line to accept phone calls from members of the public who have knowledge of Massie’s whereabouts. Callers should dial 207-513-3001 ext. 3324.
