A serious motorcycle accident that occurred in Boston on Wednesday morning and resulted in the closure of a busy crossroads is being investigated by police.
According to the Boston Police Department, officers responding to the vicinity of Columbia Road between Glendale and Hamilton streets in Dorchester before 6 a.m. discovered a motorcyclist in the street.
The victim, whose identity has not been made public, was seriously hurt in the collision, according to authorities.
A lunchbox and a water bottle were among the items of wreckage in the street and the crash scene was roped off with yellow police tape, as seen on the video.
An MBTA bus driver named Yvonne Smith was stuck behind the collision and observed the emergency response in progress.
“I saw them put him in the ambulance…I didn’t see a helmet. He was just laying on the ground with nothing on his head,” said Smith.
Traffic in the region will be prohibited until further notice, and drivers are asked to find an alternative route.
