According to authorities, two drivers were killed in a wrong-way collision on Massachusetts Route 20 on Wednesday in Charlton.

The Massachusetts State Police and the Department of Transportation both confirmed that three vehicles—one of which was carrying a boat—were involved in the collision, which temporarily closed the route. The motorist who lived through it was unharmed.

The collision happened early on Wednesday morning close to Carroll Hill Road. According to police, one driver was declared deceased at the site, while another was declared dead after being transferred to UMass Medical Center.

Authorities said that one driver is thought to have been traveling west in the eastbound lane of the roadway.

The identities of the deceased, whose relatives have been notified, and the kinds of automobiles involved were not disclosed.
