After allegedly indecently assaulting a patient during a consultation, a chiropractor from the North Shore brought himself in on a warrant for arrest on Tuesday.
According to the Essex District Attorney’s Office, Dr. Ilan S. Amar, the proprietor of A Touch of Health at 444 Humphrey Street in Swampscott, was charged with assault and battery as well as indecent assault and battery and was arraigned in Peabody District Court.
The DA’s office reported that a 31-year-old lady claimed that Amar had indecently assaulted her on December 5, 2022, to the police.
A judge mandated that Amar refrain from seeing the victim, avoid any contact with her, and refrain from engaging in the profession of chiropractic.
On March 8, 2023, Amar is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing.
