A child and an adult were struck by the SUV’s driver on Tuesday in Lexington before it crashed into a car wash, according to officials. An investigation is now in progress.

According to the Lexington Police Department, when emergency personnel arrived at the Mass Ave Car Wash to investigate reports of many pedestrians being hit, they discovered a child and an adult who were hurt.

The adult and child were both brought to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The SUV struck the victims first, then continued and struck the car wash’s brick building.

A maroon SUV that was wrecked was visible on scene video next to the car wash’s entrance. Yellow police tape had been used to cordon off the space.

Police did not immediately identify the reason of the collision or indicate if the driver would be charged.

No other information was offered.
