The new iPhone 15 Apple will continue to increase prices and have little differences from previous models, except for the huge shift in the connectivity.
Apple plans to switch all models of the iPhone 15 from Lighting ports to USB-C, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. With that change comes different capabilities.
The iPhone 15 and the 15 plus will have USB 2.0 speeds which are the same as lightning, Kuo stated. But the iPhone 15 pro and the 15 Pro Max will be able to support “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3. This would result in a speed increase of over 40x.
Pro-model iPhones shoot only in ProRAW, creating file sizes much larger than the standard image. So having a faster USB-C port to export these photos would be a good reason for Apple to make the switch.
But there are some factors about the change that just don’t make sense.
With this new and faster port, Apple is creating a huge divide between previous models. The iPhone 15 pro models are superior in cameras, materials, designs, displays, and so much more, and now connectivity as well.
Driving this wedge between the other models of iPhones this quickly is a huge leap for Apple to take.
Though this may be the best solution for the company currently as their iPhone 14 and 14 plus sales are declining, but this is not something Apple will be able to get away with for long.
