Nike cuts off relationship with Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving after promoting antisemetic behavior on his social media.

Friday, November 4, Nike promptly announced the suspension of the contract with the Nets guard.

Irving’s new shoe, the Kyrie 8, was initially expected to be released next week, but Nike stated that they will no longer be selling the shoes.

When Irving made the post, he repeatedly defended his actions and refused to apologize about anything.

The Nets then gave the star a 5 game suspension, calling his behavior “deeply disturbing”. It was only then that Irving delivered an apology on his Instagram account.

“I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain,” Irving states. In response to his stubborn actions he said, “I initially reacted out of emotion to being unjustly labeled antisemetic.”

The Nets star later says in the post that he, “had no intentions to disrespect any Jewish cultural history regarding the Holocaust or perpetuate any hate.”

There has been no further statement from Nike about the matter.
