Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume reportedly wants to ditch proposals after re-evaluation of the plans to build its planned Trinity electric vehicles (EV) factory.

The company still plans to bring new vehicles to the market with their SSP software. The original plan was to have the SSP model launch with the Trinity factory, but due to Blume’s second thoughts, things did not go according to plan.

Volkswagen has planned the release of its new electric sedan in 2026, but according to reports, Blume wants to push it back to 2030.

Many other German car manufacturers are facing an immense amount of pressure after Tesla opened its new factory in Berlin.

Blume said in a letter to his workers that they are taking the opportunity to look at all projects and investments and check their viability.”

Volkwagen’s supervisory board approved an amount of £2 billion($2.07 billion) in March for the Trinity factory, with construction set to start in spring 2023.
