Detectives in Georgia claimed to have found the couple responsible for stealing more than $10,000 worth of goods and gift cards from Walmart.
On November 30, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, a couple stole pricey products from the Grovetown Walmart and checked them out, according to WRDW.
On the Facebook page of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies posted images of the suspects gathered from surveillance footage. Although authorities claimed to have identified the culprits, their names were kept a secret.
Deputies informed WRDW that the two tricked the cashier and bought the products with various gift cards and a credit card over the course of several transactions. The suspects allegedly urged the cashier to press the “cash” button on the register during the transactions so that their cards would function, but by doing so, the register rang up the sale as if cash had been paid and did not charge the cards.
Deputies stated on Facebook that the amount taken was in excess of $10,000 but did not provide a particular figure. According to investigators, the pair took $3,000 worth of gift cards and about $3,400 worth of items.
