After a man was hit and killed by a coach bus at Logan Airport on Monday, the Massachusetts State Police updated their report on the incident on Tuesday.
State officers reported that the fatal collision occurred on Logan Airport’s Terminal B Lower Roadway at 5 p.m.
Vishwachand Kolla, 47, of Lexington, was picking up an acquaintance at the airport, according to state police.
Kolla was allegedly standing outside the driver’s side of his Acura SUV, which was positioned along the curb on Terminal B’s arrivals level.
Investigators claim Kolla was hit by a coach vehicle. According to the investigation, Kolla was dragged along the driver’s side of his SUV by the middle of the bus, which made impact with him.
Kolla was pronounced dead at the site, according to police, despite the efforts of a bystander, an off-duty nurse, as well as responding members of the Massport Fire Department and Boston EMS.
The bus that was involved in the accident was tow away from the site more than three hours after passengers who were on board at the time of the accident were transferred to another bus.
The bus’s driver was a 54-year-old lady. Investigators questioned her but found no injuries.
Dartmouth Transportation Company of Concord, New Hampshire is the bus’s owner.
“Our deepest sympathies are with everyone impacted by this evening’s incident at Logan Airport. We’re working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police and Massport to gather further information,” said a spokesperson from Dartmouth Transportation Company.
Police from the state are still looking into the matter to see if the bus driver will be receiving criminal charges.
