On Monday morning at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, a snowboarder collided with a tree and perished, according to authorities.
According to a Wachusett Mountain Ski Area spokesperson, ski patrollers from Wachusett who were dispatched to reports of a skier who had collided with a tree discovered a 67-year-old man unconscious on a black diamond path.
The unnamed Shrewsbury resident was transported urgently to the EMTs who were waiting at the mountain’s foot. Later, his death was confirmed.
“The entire Wachusett family is grieving this tragic loss,” the spokesperson said. “All of our thoughts are with the skier’s family and friends.”
Detectives from the State Police are looking into the man’s death on behalf of the Worcester District Attorney’s Office.
